Nursery news |
Hello Everyone, It was great to see so many of you joining the recent Reception tours. We hope you found them helpful and informative. Thank you for your contributions last week towards the Children In Need charity. All money raised will be put to very good causes and there is still time to donate if you would like to do so. Friday 24th November is another Mufti day, this time for Christmas Fair ‘treat jar’ donations. Thank you again for your generosity. Also many congratulations to Harrison whose Christmas card design was ‘Highly Commended’ in the mayor’s recent competition. Clare, Natalie, Danielle, Vani, Charlotte and Chelsea |
This week in teaching time |
We have been talking about houses this week, thinking especially about all the different homes that people can live in. Inspired by various traditional tales ,we have been building with different materials to construct various models and we have read,‘This is our House’ by Michael Rosen, a story that explores friendship and diversity. We have been investigating 2D shapes, identifying their different properties and creating collage pictures .We have also been thinking about the phoneme ‘n’ and continuing to recognise, count and compare numbers to 4. |
Next Week |
We will be reading, ‘Stick Man’, creating our own stick people and thinking about who else makes their home in forests . To enrich our learning further and linked to this familiar story. we are planning a visit to Richmond Park during the week beginning December 4th so do look out for notices about this and do sign up to help if you are free on the day. More details to follow next week. |
Other nursery learning as part of our continuous provision : |
We have been printing with shapes, creating models with recycled materials, solving puzzles and creating dens, houses and submarines with large cardboard boxes. The children have also continued to practise their physical skills, painting with big rollers. whisking up the water tray to create bubbles as well as exploring the cup stilts to practise balancing. |
