Maths

This week in maths we will be continuing multiplication and division. We will be looking at:

• Equal groups
• Repeated addition
• Developing understanding of the multiplication symbol 
• Arrays

Please practice counting in 2s, 5s and 10s with your child at home.

English

This week, we will be continuing our narrative, Jack and the Beanstalk. We will be looking at grammar and sentence structure.

Foundation subjects

• We will be:
• Looking at human and physical features on a map in Geography
• Entering data and pictograms in Computing
• Celebrating British Science Week as a whole school; looking at sustainability 
• Drawing the Easter story in RE
• Designing our survival den in DT
• Working on team building and team games in PE

Homework

Your child will bring home a homework folder this week. There will be a phonics and maths sheet to complete. Please practise the spellings and recap the sounds we have learnt in class. 

This homework folder will go home on a Friday and will need to be returned by the following Wednesday. 

There will be a spelling test on Wednesdays using the words on the back of the homework sheet. Please make sure your child practises these words.

Reading: Please read your child’s Little Wandle reading book with your child over the weekend and comment in the reading record if you wish to do so. Please return the reading book on a Monday.

Your child will also bring home a reading for pleasure (library) book. The reading for pleasure book can be any book of their choice to share with you. Please return the library book the following Wednesday.

Reminders

Please let your class teacher or office staff know if you can come in to hear children read. We have reading time 2:15-3:15 on Thursday afternoons.
