Weekly update: 07.11.25

Welcome back!
A reminder to top up urgent stationary if you haven't already. The children most frequently run out of glue and whiteboard pens so these are good items to prioritise. As the weather is getting colder/wetter, please ensure children come to school with a coat everyday.

Here is the week ahead:

English:
📚We  are continuing our work on the myth of Perseus and Medusa. We will be starting to plan s short piece of narrative writing with a focus on reporting verbs and speech punctuation..

  Maths:
➕➖We begin work on a very long unit of work on multiplication and division. Our focus for the week will on our 3, 6, and 9 times tables and the relationship between them. If your child is unsure of their 6 x table, this will be our fluency focus for the half term. Please continue to practise where you can at home.

Science:
🦌🐞We are beginning our unit on states of matter (solids, liquids and gases) with a focus on vocabulary and language for this: evaporation, condensation, melting , freezing etc.

Geography:
🌍We begin our geography unit by recapping on the compass points and using them to locate Crete.
DT:
🖍🖌 We look at how a simple pneumatic mechanism can make things move (2 syringes with a tube connection) and start to consider our design criteria for a model/toy.

Homework:
Please support the children with their weekly spelling and maths homework by encouraging them to learn and practise in their books each week. Other homework:

• TT rock stars. ESPECIALLY SOUNDCHECK!(5 minutes daily)
• Reading for  20+ minutes a day
• Weekly spellings and maths to be done in books
• PLEASE REMEMBER TO WRITE ANY READING YOU DO IN YOUR YELLOW READING RECORD and bring it to school every day
