Thank you so much for all the cardboard for our upcoming art lesson, we will be creating our sculptures Friday 16th October. Please keep bringing in any rolls and masking tape 🙂

A quick reminder for Dragonfly parents: on swimming days, it would be great if children could bring their gear in a backpack or drawstring bag. This makes it much easier for them to carry their belongings independently!
Here is the week ahead:
📖English:
We continue our work on 'Oliver and the Seawigs' and we will be focusing on coordinating conjunctions and possessive apostrophes. We will also begin looking at the features of instruction writing as part of the build up to our next piece of writing.
🧮 Maths:
Over the next few weeks, we will be deepening our understanding of place value by working with number lines, comparing and ordering numbers, and exploring Roman numerals. The children have really enjoyed playing this interactive math game in class, and practicing at home is a great way to reinforce their learning: 🔗 Mathsframe: Placing Numbers on a Number Line
If you have a few spare minutes, encouraging your child to play this at home would be a fantastic help!
🌱 Science:
We continue our work on classification and will be classifying woodland and urban wildlife by creating our own questions for a classification key.
🏛️History:
We will compare Athens and Sparta and explain why the Battle of Marathon happened. We’ll examine the distinct power structures of these rival city-states, the events leading to the Persian invasion, and how the outcome at Marathon reshaped the ancient Mediterranean world.
🎨Art:
We will be experimenting with paper-manipulation techniques to create 3D shapes for a sculpture. We'll practice folding, curling, and scoring to discover how simple paper can be transformed into complex, self-supporting structural art.
Homework:
Please support the children with their weekly spelling and maths homework by encouraging them to learn and practise in their books each week. Other homework:
• TT rock stars. ESPECIALLY SOUNDCHECK! (5 minutes daily)
• Reading for 20+ minutes a day
• Weekly spellings and maths to be done in books
