Weekly update: 29.11.24

Thank you to all our families for support the children and the school to celebrate our 'Proud To Be Day'. The children have talked about what they are proud to be and have loved sharing languages, clothes, hobbies and sports and cultures. Thanks to those of you who support by offering up your time by talking to the children and baking/cooking special food for our food fair (or just for the children to share). We really appreciate your time and effort - Thank you.
The Year 4 Team

Here is the week ahead:

English:
We are reading and responding to a poem called 'Medusa and Minotaur Take Tea' liked to our work on Greek Myths. We are using drama and comprehension to immerse into the text. We are using beginning to learn our group songs and poem for Christmas. Please practise at home. 
 
Maths:
We will assessing the children's maths knowledge using arithmetic and reasoning assessments. 

We also have our second 'Battle of the Band' across the year 4 classes. Battle opens at 3:30pm Friday and closes Wednesday at 8:30am. 

Science: 
In science we will be researching and exploring the different properties that make things a solid, liquid or a gas. 

History:
In History we are looking at King Minos of Crete and will be asking if the story of his mysterious labyrinth is true or just myth.

DT: We are using our designs to create and construct our pneumatic toys. 

Homework:
Please support the children with their weekly spelling and maths homework by encouraging them to learn and practise in their books each week. Other homework:


• TT rock stars. ESPECIALLY SOUNDCHECK!!! (5 minutes daily)
• Reading for  20+ minutes a day
• Weekly spellings and maths to be done in books (starting from 20.9.24)
• PLEASE REMEMBER TO WRITE ANY READING YOU DO IN YOUR YELLOW READING RECORD and bring it to school every day.
