Together we nurture the genius in everyone
Friday 1st May
Ready for the great outdoors!
May is here at last, and we are all ready for the great outdoors! Polly Jones seems to have lived in the park, and the children in Opal class have very much enjoyed their afternoons with her. “Better than Golden Time”, was the verdict!
The children in Jade class have loved collecting the eggs each day, and next week it’ll be the first Y1 class to have a turn. We are seeing some pretty wonderful egg carriers created by children at home with their parents. Keep up the good work!
Today I spent a happy half hour in Year 2 doing some mathematical investigations. I was amazed at how keen the children were to have a go at the hardest challenge of the three they could choose from, and at how they persisted with the problem solving:
Lola bought a balloon from the clown at the circus. She gave him 6 coins. In her purse she only had 5p, 10p and 20p coins. How much could she have given to the clown?
When you’ve had a go at that one, try adding 50p coins into the mix to make it trickier!
We are speeding into the digital age this week – Year 2 have their own twitter account (@Year2Alex), and I hope you will follow it to keep up to date with their activities. We also hosted two e-safety workshops for parents. See Axichat for more details, and information to help you to keep your children safe on line if you missed the workshop is on the learning tab on our website.
Hope you enjoy the Bank holiday weekend – bye for now.
