I hope you are enjoying our new website – and that it helps you to feel really in touch with what is happening here in school. Setting up the site has been a big project, led with enthusiasm and drive by some of our talented parents. So thanks Dawn Perugi, Dave Powell and Liz Thomson: all your hard work very much appreciated.
I hope you all had a good half term holiday, and enjoyed some of the celebrations and festivals that are clustered together at this time of year. I know that many of the children will have joined in the celebration of Eid, Halloween or Guy Fawkes Night, and will have lots to talk about in school.
What’s coming up?
This half term starts with our science themed week “Light Fantastic”. Here is an introduction from Mrs Horine, science subject leader:
This year’s science week is called ‘Light Fantastic’ and we’re looking at light, shadows and colour.
Each year group will be doing class based activities like Dark Den investigations, experimenting with torches, looking at coloured lights and even making glitter balls!
Each year group is sending home an investigation to try at home; nothing elaborate…you won’t need a lab! They’re just simple light and shadow investigations with lots of opportunity for the children to make observations and comparisons.
There’s no need to record the investigations just have fun and get the children talking about what they see!
The week will finish with a dress-up day on Friday – can everyone wear something shiny or sparkly? We will be collecting for the charity “Shine”, which supports families living with spina bifida and hydrocephalus, so if the children could bring in £1 each it will all go towards Gobi’s charity.
