ICT
We study computing because this subject’s way of thinking, computational thinking, challenges us to be excellent. Online content, conduct and contact enables us to be more connected in our communities and practise our rights and responsibilities. At Alexandra Primary School, we aim to impart lasting knowledge to all our children through an inspiring and challenging curriculum. We aim for our children to be knowledgeable about computer science, know how to use digital devices to create a range of content, and how to be a positive member of online communities. We expect our children to show excellence in the content they create, from digital artwork to publishing blogs and podcasts. Our curriculum is aspirational in that children are expected to solve increasingly complex problems, create increasingly complex content, and understand increasingly complex ideas, applying the knowledge they have gathered over time. Computer programming nurtures children’s resilience when solving problems. Through tinkering, writing and testing algorithms, we explore how to make things work.
