Geography
Our Geography teaching and learning is based on the National curriculum. We want our children to become lifelong geographers who understand the importance of sustainable living, respect the world and take deliberate steps to care for it. Our teaching and learning sequences are planned and delivered to ensure the learning is memorable and key knowledge, vocabulary and skills are remembered and applied to new learning.
Our teaching develops Geographers who have:
-
Developed a curiosity and respect for the world around them.
-
Are able to ask questions, make predictions, carry out fieldwork, evaluate their findings, reflect on their learning and make links.
-
Gained more detailed and extensive framework of knowledge of the world including globally and locally significant physical and human features and places in the news.
-
Understanding in some detail what a number of places are like, how and why they are similar and different and how and why they are changing. They compare and contrast these places to Kingston and the Greater London area.
-
They know about some spatial patterns in physical and human geography. The conditions that influence those patterns, and the processes that lead to change.
-
They can express and explain their opinions and recognise why others may hold different points of view.
-
Have developed a passion for Geography
-
Have a well-developed geographical vocabulary.
-
Have developed the knowledge and skills to use a range of methods to communicate their geographical information and present it using ICT, diagrams, graphs, maps and charts.
