Establishing lifelong learning: rooted in knowledge, enriched by experience
The intent of our PSHE curriculum at Alexandra Primary School is to deliver a curriculum which is inclusive and accessible to all. Our PSHE curriculum will maximise outcomes for every child so that they know more, remember more and understand more.
Teaching at Alexandra Primary School follows the Jigsaw Jack scheme of learning, which holds children at its heart and helps every child understand where they fit in their community and world. Teaching places emphasis on emotional literacy, building resilience and nurturing mental and physical health. Alexandra’s scheme of learning also includes mindfulness, allowing children to advance their emotional awareness, concentration and focus in school and beyond. We believe that PSHE at Alexandra Primary School equips pupils with the knowledge and skills needed for the wider world.
PSHE at Alexandra Primary School consists of six half-term units of work (Puzzles), each containing six lessons covering each academic year. The puzzles connect to our school values of Nurture, Excellence, Exploration and Community:
Term 1 - Community: Being Me in My World
Term 2 - Exploration: Celebrating Difference (including anti-bullying)
Term 3 - Excellence: Dreams and Goals
Term 4 - Nurture: Healthy Me
Term 5: Relationships
Term 6: Changing Me (including Sex Education)
