Make the most of the ripe summer fruits by adding a whole fruit in place of jam on a cream cheese sandwich or bagel. By using the whole fruit itself rather than jam, it reduces the amount of refined sugar while increasing fibre to help keep children feeling full. Sweet summer fruits like blackberries, raspberries and strawberries are full of antioxidants and vitamin C and make for the perfect topping to a bagel with cream cheese or ricotta.
*For a not-safe-for-school but fine for home snack or breakfast (if there are no allergens) try adding these fruits to a slice of peanut butter toast!
