Establishing lifelong learning: rooted in knowledge, enriched by experience
Alexandra Primary School Education Fund
Many of you will already be aware of the Alexandra Primary School Education Fund that was set up in 2017 to supplement our school budget at a time when government funding was declining in real terms. This funding shortfall continues every year and over the last 2 years we have faced another significant challenge to our financial position from the pandemic.
Our priority at Alexandra Primary School is to provide a rich and varied curriculum for the children, one that goes beyond the requirements of the national curriculum and offers exciting learning opportunities for all. Thank you to all the families who have donated and to those who continue to do so – we see the difference you have made every day and are incredibly grateful.
How you can help
The purpose of the Education Fund is not changing; our long-term goal to integrate the best technology into teaching and learning remains. Our aim is to replace the current whiteboards, which have reached the end of their lives, with new C-touch boards for every single classroom, which have a 10-year warranty. Each C-touch costs £2500.
The current fund that has been going since 2017 has raised £9000 that has been spent on 4 C-touch whiteboards. However, as we have now achieved charitable status (charity number 1195261), we can now start reclaiming gift aid on all new donations, giving an additional 25%. We would therefore ask all parents who currently donate to move their standing order to the new fund.
We would like to stress that the donations we are asking for are voluntary; there is no obligation to contribute to the Fund but any amount, however small, is very welcome and will make a difference.
If you have any questions about the Education Fund that are not answered below, please do get in touch by emailing the school office at email@example.com and either myself or one of the Education Fund Trustees will contact you.
Alexandra Primary School Education Fund FAQ
What will future donations be spent on?
We would like to replace the current whiteboards, which have reached the end of their lives, with c-touch boards. These c-touch boards enhance the children’s learning on a daily basis and ensure the children have access to the most effective teaching resources and activities. The trustees of the Education Fund will meet each year to reconsider future expenditure.
How can I donate to the Education Fund?
There are several ways you can make a donation. You can make a single, one-off contribution, or set up a regular payment. You can donate by debit or credit card through ParentPay, by standing order or bank transfer directly into the Education Fund bank account, or by cheque or cash.
ParentPay - sign in to ParentPay and make a one-off donation by selecting a Education Fund payment item.
Via your bank - the Education Fund account details you need to set up a regular standing order or make a bank transfer are:
- Account name: Alexandra Primary School Education Fund
- Sort code: 30-98-97
- Account number: 48389463
Reference: Your family name followed by your child’s 6 digit date of birth (eg SMITH 210313)
Can I claim Gift Aid on my donation?
Yes, the Education Fund is a registered charity and eligible for Gift Aid. By claiming Gift Aid you increase the value of your donation by 25%. If you donate online through ParentPay, please choose the option ‘Voluntary Alexandra Education Fund with Gift Aid’ and complete the Gift aid declaration form (also available from the school office). If you would like to make a regular standing order or bank transfer directly from your bank account, please complete the Gift Aid form and return to the School Business Manager (via the office) after it has been set up. Please note that Gift Aid cannot be claimed without the declaration form being completed.
Are there other ways I can help the school that do not involve donating money?
Yes, absolutely! We have restarted our volunteer reader programme and opening the school to parent and carer helpers. We would be delighted to hear from families who can offer their time, skills or any equipment for school use. Please contact the school office and a member of the Senior Leadership Team will get back to you.
