REMINDER: MONDAY 2ND NOVEMBER IS AN INSET DAY. CHILDREN RETURN TO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY 3RD NOVEMBER
Message from Mr Waiting
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for all your support this half term. I am so proud of the way that the children returned to school after lockdown and the commitment and attitudes to learning visible every day in classrooms. Our reception and nursery pupils have made a positive start to their journey at Alexandra and relationships with new teachers, classmates and routines are now well established. Despite the unusual structures in place with all classes working separately from each other, it still feels that we are well connected within the school and able to celebrate the progress that the children continue to make in their learning. This is also a reflection on the hard work from all staff – teachers, classroom support assistants and the administrative and premises team, who put so much investment into the school.
I am also grateful for your commitment as parents to the school this half term. We have held parent forums for all year groups, a strategy workshop highlighting the development of the school a year on from Ofsted, a secondary school transition meeting and parent consultations delivered via phone calls to all families. This afternoon also saw the first Parent Council meeting with representation from all classes within the school. Through all of these initiatives, we have seen excellent attendance and I am so pleased that parents continue to engage with and work in partnership with the school. Next half term we will run online parent workshops in phonics and maths with further updates from the work of the Council and the PSA. We will also run year group forums and a second leadership session at the start of the spring term.
This term we have worked closely with the children on our school values. We have spent time thinking about the identity of the school and our ambitions for the future. From this, it was clear that the value of ‘community’ is at the heart of Alexandra. The support, commitment and partnerships that we receive through our parent community is so appreciated and makes such a difference to the experience that we are able to offer to the children. Thank you for working so closely with us.
Have a great half term break,
After School Activity Clubs
We are delighted to announce that we will have a selection of activity clubs running after half term for Years 2, 3, 4 and 5. All the clubs will be in individual year groups so that the children can stay in their bubbles. We are looking to extend the offerings to other year groups in the spring term.
These will be available to book via Parentpay from Friday 23rd October. More information has been sent via Parentmail today.
Second hand uniform
We have a good supply of second hand uniform at school available for any families who may currently be unable to afford to buy uniform. If you would like any, please contact Melanie Meek in the strictest confidence at email@example.com.
