COVID-19 Information
Reminders
Masks
Parents are asked to wear face coverings / masks to drop off and collect their children in the morning and afternoon. We would appreciate if families can enter and leave the school site quickly so that the playground is not congested at any point. We recognise how positive it is to have the school community back together but we must also all ensure that we are reducing our interactions between adults within the school environment. Thank you for your cooperation with this.
Dropping children off
Children in KS2 may be dropped off at the gates and go to their classroom by themselves.
Year 6 may walk to school alone providing a parental consent form has been filled out and returned to the office either in person or via email. You can find the form here. We unfortunately cannot accept email consent without the completed form.
Mobile phones
We are aware that mobile phones for Year 6 children who travel to school on their own are necessary for many. We cannot collect these centrally as we have done in previous years. Therefore, if your Year 6 child needs to bring a mobile phone into school, it will need to be turned off before the school day starts and kept safely in your child’s bag throughout the day. Please make your child aware that they are responsible for their phone and for keeping to the school’s mobile phone rules.
Displaying COVID symptoms
Please do not send your child to school or enter the school grounds if you or any member of your household are displaying any symptoms of COVID-19. If you or any member of your household are displaying any symptoms then please use Parentmail or call the office to report the absence of 14 days.
If a child becomes unwell in school with a new, continuous cough, high temperature or a loss of the sense of taste and/or smell, their parents or carer will be contacted to collect them and they are advised to follow the staying at home guidance and arrange a test to identify whether they have COVID-19.
To arrange a test, you can go online or call 119. You can choose to arrange an appointment at a local testing centre or have a home test kit sent to you.
Where a pupil or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, AfC protocol will be followed. This includes contacting the London Coronavirus Response Cell, which is likely to advise that the rest of their class/group should be sent home and advised to self-isolate for 14 days.

Whole School Arrangements
- The school office will be closed to onsite visits from parents. Instead please phone or email the office with any queries on alexandrasch@axi.rbksch.org 0208 546 7176. Any forgotten items should be named and left on a table outside the main school entrance. Absences should be reported via Parentmail.
- Attendance at school is compulsory. If you have any concerns regarding the return to school please contact the school office in the first instance. It is vital that after this extended period of school closure, all pupils return to school full time from the start of term.
Class Organisation & Curriculum
- All children will be asked to wash their hands on entry to school and regularly throughout sessions. Pupils will also wash hands before and after breaks and lunchtime and at the end of the school day.
- The school will be cleaned over the lunch break as well as the evening by the contracted cleaning company. Communal areas such as the toilets and corridors will be cleaned during lunch breaks and the classrooms including tables, chairs and shared resources will be thoroughly cleaned in the evening.
- Classrooms will be arranged to ensure that pupils’ desks and chairs are spaced apart and resources which cannot easily be cleaned will not be used. Children are encouraged to bring their own stationery.
- We will be continuing to offer a broad curriculum, with some adaptations to the way in which it is delivered. We are hoping to arrange school trips but we will provide further information on this as we learn more.
- We will not be able to bring the children together collectively but assemblies will continue to run within classrooms with videos from senior leaders and a celebration assembly on Friday when all classes will be visited by senior leaders and children will be acknowledged for their hard work during the week.
Start and End of Day Arrangements
- Since the 1st June we have established staggered drop off and pick up arrangements on site to reduce the number of adults that are in the school environment at any one time. This has worked successfully with Reception, Years 1 and 6 but with all year groups now returning it is even more important that we have efficient systems that enable families to enter and exit the school site quickly and safely. Following government guidelines, we will be implementing ‘year group sized bubbles.’ Each group will have separate break and lunchtimes and separate start and end times to the school day. The following table covers arrangements for all year groups:

- There will be a one-way system operating in the school, both for the outside and inside space. The entrance to school will be the single gate on Princes Road. The exit will be the double gate on Princes Road and the single gate on Alexandra Road. This system will be reviewed at the end of the first week and any changes will be communicated to parents in the newsletter on Friday.
- We ask that only one parent drops off/picks up. Parents should leave the school site immediately after dropping off. We would encourage Year 6 to come into school by themselves rather than with parents but if children are walking to or from school by themselves we will need written permission from the parent or guardian.
Lunch Arrangements
- Our lunch provider (ISS) will only be offering packed lunches to make it easier to deliver these meals to the children. Pupils will eat in their classrooms, rather than the school hall, limiting the use of communal spaces. Meals can be ordered through the following website: https://www.feedinghungryminds.co.uk/.
- Your child may bring a packed lunch from home if you prefer, but please make sure that it follows the school’s food recommendations for no confectionery or nuts (as we have children with severe nut allergies).
- At lunchtime, year groups will have a staggered time in a specific area of the playground (e.g. the ball court, the forest school area, the new playground equipment etc) with different areas being used each day.
Wraparound Provision and Extra Curricular Clubs
- Breakfast and After School Club are available. Children will be grouped in phases (EYFS, KS1, LKS2 and UKS2) in the hall, Learning Zone and Beehive.
- We would love to run extra-curricular clubs for specific year groups after half term, however we are still working through the details of whether this is possible.
School Uniform
- Pupils should wear full school uniform, including: Uniform A (grey trousers or shorts, yellow polo top, school logo sweatshirt / cardigan, grey socks) or Uniform B (navy skirt or pinafore, yellow top, school logo sweatshirt / cardigan, blue and white check summer dress, plain navy tights or white socks).
- Children should wear black school shoes with trainers only being worn for PE.
- No jewellery should be worn to school and if your child has pierced ears a small plain stud should be worn. Children should not wear smart watches or devices to ensure that they do not get lost or broken.
- The PE kit includes blue PE shorts or jogging bottoms, yellow school logo PE t-shirt, trainers. Children in all year groups can choose to wear their PE kit to school on PE days.
