Curriculum
Together we nurture the genius in everyone.
At Alexandra it’s our mission to help children reach their full potential.
We live in a constantly changing world, and with technology replacing even highly skilled jobs at an alarming rate, and global recession setting the tone, we already hear too many stories of highly qualified graduated without job prospects. Here is what one University Chancellor said recently:
“The most striking thing about some undergraduates is their dependence, their lack of initiative and their reluctance to think for themselves. New undergraduates seem to expect to be told what to do at every stage. It is almost as though the spoon-feeding-and-teaching-to-the-test culture at school has drained them of independent thought.” Tim Birkhead, University of Sheffield.
The whole teaching team, including everyone who supports children’s learning in class, have been learning about growth mindsets together, to help us to create the right learning culture in our school. I hope you enjoy finding out what we have been doing in school – there will be more first week back after half term.
Fixed and Growth Mindsets in a nutshell:
What sort of mindset do your children have? How can we share and develop a growth mindset with every child?
What can we all do to make sure our children have a growth mindset and believe that hard work and practice, self belief and determination will make a real difference to their lives now and in the future?
