WHAT WE'VE BEEN DOING THIS WEEK:
At last we have all started in Hoglets and Owlets! We have made so many new friends!
In Literacy we enjoyed reading different stories about starting school
In Maths we have be singing lots of numbers songs and learning all about 3.
We have also been learning all about the routines and rules in school.
WHAT WE'LL BE DOING NEXT WEEK:
In School – We will be reading and talking about different versions of Little Red Riding Hood
In phonics we will learn four sounds s,a,t and p and practise writing them.
Homework: Help your child to complete their phonic sheets and learn the new sounds. We will be sending home a file to keep their phonics sheets in.
Please note we are now teaching cursive writing from Reception onwards. We will explain in more detail at the phonics workshop.
In School – We will be learning all about 4 and the different combinations that make 4. We will also be counting up to 10 by rote and learning to recognise numbers to 10.
Homework: Please help your child find sets of four things and look at the different combinations that make 4, e.g. 1 and 3, 2 and 2 and 4 and 0.
Knowledge and understanding of the world
In School – We will be learning about our 5 senses. This week we will learn about seeing with our eyes. We will make binoculars and glasses.
Homework: Please complete the “All about me” booklet and send it back after the weekend to go in your child’s Learning Journey.
Don’t forget to send in a shoebox and photos etc for “Life in a box”. If you are unsure of what to send in, please ask your class teacher
Owlets : Monday and Wednesday
Hoglets: Tuesday and Tuesday
Your child will need to come to school wearing their P.E. kit on their P.E. days.
Please ensure your child is bringing water every day.
Every child in Reception is entitled to a piece of fruit and a carton of milk each day. Please don’t send extra snacks to school.
Please make sure your child’s uniform is clearly named.
