WHAT WE'VE BEEN DOING THIS WEEK:
We have been introducing equivalent fractions, looking at fraction walls and introducing the terminology of numerator and denominator. In literacy we have started reading Stone Age Boy by Satoshi Kitamura. We have looked at the central characters feelings and drawn a story map to help with our re-telling of the story. History this week saw us looking at the process of making bronze from copper ore (smelting process) and in science we have started looking at the parts of plants by dissecting them.
WHAT WE'LL BE DOING NEXT:
LITERACY – We will re-read Stone Age Boy and use it as a starting point for planning our own story with the characters in reverse roles (A Stone Age girl finds herself in the Digital Age).
MATHS – We will be revisiting fractions through bar modelling. We will be focusing on unit and non-unit fractions, finding fractions of amounts.
UNDERSTANDING THE WORLD: We are investigating plants and growth, focusing on the function of the stem.
Topic: Match the Bronze Age grave goods to the owner.
Literacy: Practise weekly spellings.
